Introduction to Cyanotype Printing (all levels)

  • Main Line Art Center (map)

Join me at the Main Line Art Center! Although this is an “introduction” - I encourage all levels! There are always opportunities to experiment and learn new things, even if you have already taken a class in cyanotypes.

The cyanotype is both a printmaking process and the oldest photographic process. It was developed in the 1800s as a way to create multiple copies in an easy & cost-efficient way, which uses UV light to create magical blue works of art. This is actually where the blueprint got its name! In this workshop, you will learn the history of the cyanotype process and how to create your own unique botanical prints. All materials and plant matter are provided, but you are welcome to bring objects to experiment with (glass containers, dried flowers, coins, etc). At the end of the workshop, you will understand the process and have many beautiful works to take with you! All levels encouraged. All materials will be provided.
