Workshop: Intermediate & Advanced Cyanotypes
The cyanotype is both a printmaking process and the oldest photographic process. It was developed in the 1800’s as a way to create multiple copies using the UV rays from the sun. This is actually where the blueprint got its name! In this workshop, we will take the traditional cyanotype process a step further and dive more deeply into wet cyanotypes, the process of "toning" our prints, and experimenting with creating long-exposure works. All materials will be provided. *Material fee: $25/person to be paid to the instructor.*

Cyanotype Collage Workshop at Main Line Art Center
Learn to make a mixed-media cyanotype collage! The cyanotype (aka sun-printing) process uses UV light - most commonly from the sun - to create cyan-blue photograms. It is one of the oldest photographic processes developed in 1842 and is where the blueprint got its name.
Since this is an evening class, we will use UV lamps to create our cyanotype images, which we will then use along with other materials to create a series of collages. All materials provided.
Student Supply List: $25 supply fee payable to instructor

About the show:
I chose "Stages of Blue" as the title for many reasons - "stages" meaning performance stages, the many stages of growth, of time, of process, of grief, of loss, of sisterhood, of duets, of love. I weave between & through the mediums of painting, cyanotype, and dance, honoring how they speak between & alongside each other. Through the color Prussian Blue, this compilation of works on paper, paintings, and movement examines the connections between community and relationships during a time of pandemic.
